Welcome aboard Radiation Oncology, Dr. Joanne Zhung

Joanne Zhung, MD, board-certified radiation oncologist, has joined our team. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Medical School and was selected for a medical student fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Zhung then completed a transitional year at Bassett Medical Center, in Cooperstown, NY.

Dr. Zhung began specializing in radiation oncology at Loyola University Medical Center and completed her training at Tufts Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. During her training, Dr. Zhung was elected to serve on the Resident Executive Committee for the American College of Radiology, as well as the Resident Executive Committee for the American College of Radiation Oncology. Among her further accomplishments, Dr. Zhung earned a scholarship in LDR Prostate Brachytherapy, sponsored by the American Brachytherapy Society. Recently, she was an attending radiation oncologist at Saint Peter’s University in New Brunswick, providing a wide range of clinical care, as well as overseeing medical residents during their oncology electives.

Dr. Zhung’s clinical and research interests include lung, head and neck, breast, gastrointestinal, and CNS malignancies. Her research has been published in Cancer; International Journal of Radiation Oncology – Biology Physics; and the American Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Zhung is published in the peer-review literature on head and neck, lung Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), and prostatic malignancies, as well as a book chapter delineating the use of IMRT in head and neck malignancies. She is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American College of Radiology. Dr. Zhung has extensive experience in several radiation therapy modalities such as IMRT, IGRT, 3DCRT, HDR brachytherapy, SBRT, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).

Dr. Zhung practices mostly at the Chilton Medical Center.
